My name is James Reilly. I am a freelance photojournalist based in Orange County, NY. I graduated from Marist College in 2008 with a BA in the field of Communications with a concentration in Radio/TV/and Film studies. While at Marist College, I helped establish the photography department and acted as the primary photographer of The Circle, Marist College’s weekly student newspaper. I also volunteered at Marist College’s Admissions, Athletics, and Advancement offices taking various photographs throughout my time at Marist.

While a student, I did not limit my photography experience to Marist College. I also covered many spot news and several assignments for the Times Herald-Record, an 85,000 circulation daily newspaper based out of Middletown, New York. I also served as the primary photographer for The Comeback Tour, a local band based in Poughkeepsie, NY from 2006-2008. I have since continued to offer my services to other local musicians.

In my exploration of various forms of photography, I assisted Michael Bloom at the Monticello Motor Club, a private racing facility in Monticello, New York. It was a great experience and I was able to bring skills I had acquired during previous experience with shooting many different sports. Most recently I was recognized by Mountain Creek, and Intrawest resort in Vernon, New Jersey for my work and was awarded a free season pass for my submission in a photography competition the resort hosted during the 2008-2009 season.

Additionally, I have also photographed several social events where my experience as a photojournalist has helped to capture human emotion at its best without being a distraction to the event itself.
